The Penny Farthing Pub is an active member in the local community. We are proud sponsors of the Castaways Rugby Team and Pigs Trotters Cricket Club. Come down every Tuesday in the spring and summer months to see the teams in full gear, as they celebrate their win or drown their sorrows of their loss.

The Penny is a great place to visit for a warm drink during the Christmas season, before or after the Truck Parade. Join us after an evening stroll through the village to enjoy the Christmas lights and festivities.

For all those antique car enthusiasts, mark August down on your calendar for next year. Oak Bay Avenue closes to regular vehicle traffic to make way for between 250 and 300 collectable cars.

Oak Bay Tea Party
The event kicks off with the Tea Party Parade and a Mad Hatters fun run. Musical entertainment and a midway run throughout the weekend. Special events on Sunday include an airshow with sky divers, military aircraft, aerobatic aircraft and a sea rescue demonstration. Also on Sunday afternoon, don’t miss the annual bathtub race and the tea cup challenge, featuring floating tea cups powered by a pair of mismatched oars.

Oak Bay Jaguar Show at Windsor Park
Jaguar Car Club of Victoria's fourth annual Jaguars on the Island car show. Over 160 cars of all vintages from Vancouver Island and the Pacific Northwest. Cars come from as far asway as San Francisco and Calgary. Enjoy a silent auction, raffle and live music throughout the day. This event is free to attend.

Bowker Creek Brush Up
Forty artists will demonstrate their craft ranging from painting in oils, acrylic and watercolours to pottery and porcelain to weaving. Art will also be displayed and on sale. Along Bowker Creek between Hampshire Road and Armstrong Avenue.


August 10, 2008 - 9:00am - 4:00pm
Blethering Place Collector Car Show
Over 300 cars will be on display during the eigth annual Blethering Place Collector Car Festival. Cars at various stages of restoration are featured alongside fully restored cars from a range of eras. Each year features a strong showing of English cars, vintage race cars from the 1950s and 1960s and various unique cars from throughout the Pacific Northwest, many of which do not attend other car shows.
